Physiotherapy

Our physiotherapist at our Mississauga clinic will work together with you and any other health professionals to develop an individualized plan of care to help your muscles, joints, heart and lungs work to their full potential.

Physiotherapists work side by side with you to fnd the best course of treatment taking into consideration everythiing from your medical history to your general lifestyle.  They treat the condition while helping you understand its effects on your overall physical health.  In doing so physiotherapists empower you with knowledge of your own body and show how you can help yourself.  This allows you to achieve you goals not only during but also beyond your treatment sessions.

Working in partnership while promoting independence is essential to a patient's recovery.  For example, your physiotherapist may show you exercises you can do between sessions but will monitor your progress regularly, adjust treatments when necessary and offer advice on ways to prevent potential health problems from occurring before they arise.

Multi Dimesional

As a diverse discipline, physiotherapy uses a variety of techniques to treat a vast range of conditions. The practice of physiotherapy is drug free and utilizes many other supportive therapies such as; ultrasound, therapeutic laser, interferential current, TENS, cryotherapy, acupuncture, therapeutic stretches and physical rehabilitation, to meet your healthcare needs.

A physiotherapist can help people affected by injury, illness or disability remediate impairments, manage pain, prevent disease and improve over all quality of life.  This is achieved not only through perscribed movements, exercise and manual therapy but also through increasing awareness, education and advice.

Diagnosis

A physiotherapist assesses the patient's level of mobility, strength, endurance, cardio-respiratory status and other physical abilities.  They determine the impact of their illness, injury, or disability on their physical function, whether at work, rest or play.

Our physiotherapists will also examine relevant x-rays, laboratory tests, medical records and surgical notes.  Based on these assessments, the physiotherapist makes a diagnosis and works in partnership with you and other health care professionals to plan individualized goals and treatment programs to boost recovery and maintain your optimal health over longer periods of time.
